For the 2023 season, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration predicted between 12-17 named storms with 5-9 becoming hurricanes, and 1-4 escalating into major hurricanes in the Atlantic Ocean. The prep steps below apply every season.

- Stock your home with supplies should you shelter in place. Your hurricane prep shopping list should include non-perishable food items, water, and medicine for each member of your family to last for at least 3 days – don’t forget your pet’s food! Batteries, flashlights, battery lanterns, and a battery-powered radio are also needed when electricity goes out.
